Rodrigo Galecio (1972)
Vive y trabaja en Santiago de Chile. Obtuvo en 2016 el grado de Magíster en Estudios de la Imagen por la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades de la Universidad Alberto Hurtado (Santiago de Chile) y realizó un postítulo en Teoría y Práctica de las Artes Plásticas Contemporáneas en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, España (2002). Su Licenciatura en Artes la obtuvo en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile en 1998. Realizó el programa de Residencia Artística en PANAL (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2016). Ha exhibido su trabajo en Estados Unidos, Australia, España, así como en distintas ciudades chilenas y de América. En paralelo, Rodrigo Galecio se desempeña como Profesor Asociado en la Facultad de Artes de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Ha publicado ensayos y artículos sobre arte y visualidad en diferentes medios.
Desde 1998, expone periódicamente su trabajo tanto en Chile como en el Extranjero. Entre sus exposiciones individuales más destacadas están “RaM” (2006) y “HCO: Homenaje a Carlos Ortuzar” (2010), ambas en Galería de Arte Contemporáneo Die Ecke. “La Tragedia del Color (H.A.E.)” (2014), en Galería XS, “Estudio Libre” (2016-17) en Galería Tajamar, “Cartoon” (2017) en Galería Técnica y “Pinturas de Aventura” en el Museo de Artes Visuales MAVI (2021), en Santiago de Chile y “Zapping” en la galería de arte contemporáneo Rosenblut & Friedmann en Madrid España.
También, ha participado en exposiciones colectivas fuera de Chile, entre las que se destacan “Travelling Light” (2011) en el Museum of Arts of the Organization of the American States (AMA Museum) en Washington D.C. Estados Unidos de Norte América y “Material Ligero, Five Artists From Santiago, Chile Travelling Light” (2009) en la Margaret Lawrence Gallery, Victorian College of the Arts, The University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia.

Rodrigo Galecio (1972)
Santiago (Chile) based visual artist, has been practicing his skills in painting since 1994. He studied a Bachelor of Art at the School of Art at the Pontificate Catholic University of Chile. Additionally, he has completed a postgraduate Studio Art degree in the Painting Department of the Complutense University of Madrid, in Spain, and a Master of Visual Studies at the Alberto Hurtado University in Santiago, Chile.
In general, his paintings are projects in the sense that these are projective chromatic formulations that he develops over time. This is a long process through which he reaches at pictures that he did not know he could have imagined ever. Thus, his imagination develops while he is working to depict something that happens between doing and imagining it. In his latest series of paintings which is called Adventure Paintings, he explores through multiple visual and cultural references that go from pop art and mass culture to constructivist painting and cubism, to ancient and classic art, and South American geometric abstraction and pre-Columbian textiles, among others.
Since 1998, he regularly exhibits his work both in Chile and abroad. Among his most relevant individual exhibitions are “PAC” (2002), at Galería Metropolitana art gallery, (Santiago, Chile). “RAM” (2006), at Die Ecke Contemporary Art Gallery (Santiago, Chile). “La Tragedia del Color (The Tragedy of Color)” (2014) at Galería MADRE art gallery (Santiago, Chile). “Estudio Libre” (2016-17), at Galería Tajamar contemporary art gallery (Santiago, Chile). “Pinturas de Aventura (Adventure Paintings)” (2021) at the Museum of Visual Arts MAVI (Santiago, Chile). and “Zapping” (2023) at Rosenblut & Friedmann Contemporary Art Gallery (Madrid, Spain).
Among the group exhibitions that he has held are to be mentioned “Travelling Light” (2011) at the Museum of Arts of the Organization of the American States (AMA Museum) (Washington D.C., United States of America), and “Light Material, Five Artists from Santiago, Chile Traveling Light” (2009), at the Margaret Lawrence Gallery, Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne, Australia).
He has obtained Funds for Research and Artistic Creation from the Academic Vice Presidency of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in the years 2021, 2013, 2008, and 2006. He also obtained funds in 2011 from the Support and Insertion Area for Chilean Artists and Cultural Agents and Artistic and Cultural Projects in Foreign Territory by the Ministry of Cultures, the Patrimony and the Arts of the Government of Chile.
He is currently working as an Associate Professor at the School of Art at the Faculty of Arts of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
